Mercedes-Benz Stadium will still have the cheapest concessions around

Mercedes-Benz Stadium is edging closer to completion by the day, and like every Falcons fan, I can’t wait to check it out.

The Braves also have a new stadium, and while I’m sure it’s a lovely ballpark in its own right, it does not have a couple of important advantages that Mercedes-Benz Stadium will.

1. The Falcons don’t play there;
2. The concessions are not dirt cheap.

One of the worst parts of any gameday experience is forking over big money for concessions, and no one should need to drop $30-plus to pick up a couple of hot dogs and beers, not when the tickets themselves aren’t cheap. The Falcons haven’t always played things brilliantly with their fans, but this (and, you know, being a good football team) engender some legitimate goodwill.

As far as we know, the Falcons’ new stadium is still very much on track to be completed this summer and ready for Atlanta’s home opener, whenever that ends up being scheduled for. The stadium cost an insane amount of money, personal seat licenses and tickets won’t be cheap, but once you’re there you can gorge yourself at a very reasonable price. It’s the little things.
